Abstract
In the history of the literature of the unreal in Mexico, the period that corresponds to the first quarter of the twentieth century has not yet been sufficiently studied. From these years, El plano oblicuo by Alfonso Reyes, the legends of the colonialists, and the various romantic and modernist extensions that range from the fantastic narrative of Amado Nervo to the lyrical stories of Guillermo Jiménez are easily recognized. Less attention has been paid to the texts written by the members of the generation of the Ateneo de la Juventud, many of which, although they cannot be called strictly fantastic, do present a vocation of unreality whose characteristics, similarities and differences are yet to be determined as a whole.
