Literary deconstruction and diverse sex in Gilda Salinas' narrative stories

Abstract

In this article, I analyze the stories gathered in the book Del destete al desempance, cuentos lésbicos y un colado (2008), from the perspective of literary criticism and gender studies, in order to show the contribution of the Mexican writer Gilda Salinas to lesbian and sexually diverse literature, through the configuration of non-binary characters that break with gender stereotypes and sexist prejudices imposed in conservative and hypocritical societies. The stories created by Gilda Salinas are vertiginous and ludic, allowing her protagonists to escape from compulsory heteronormativity and seek different ways of living, loving, fulfilling their desires, appropriating, and even enjoying their bodies.
